"Innovating for Society"

   September 29th, 2004

This year’s IEEE MetroCon offers three exciting parallel conference tracks; each track covering technical topics in coordinated morning and afternoon sessions.

The Power Engineering track returns this year to report on technologies and advances in the industry. Topics include fuel cell development, a panel discussion on electrical power distribution alternatives, power restoration in IRAQ, and discussions on transmission grid power management. This track also features an in-depth discussion of the Texas Professional Engineers’ Continuing Education Requirement, its history, requirements, and expectations – a must see for all Texas P.E.s.

MetroCon 2004 is featuring for the first time ever the Biotechnologies track. This track brings together medical practitioners, academe, and engineers to discuss the current biomedical industry issues and successes and, of course, the latest advances in patient drug delivery systems, tissue engineering, and human accommodation.

The Emerging Technologies Track, a continuing high-tech feature track of MetroCon, returns again this year building on its strong technology legacy. This year’s talks cover topics in radio frequency and optical communications technologies, quantum computing, model-driven architectures in software engineering, and the use of software agents and other techniques in making mobile computing a success.

Three exciting tracks and our lunchtime keynote address makes this year’s MetroCon one for the record books. We hope to see you there!
