About the Speaker
Ian Parberry is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas. With over 25 years experience in research and education, he is the author of six books and more than 60 articles on a wide range of computing subjects including algorithms, complexity theory, parallel computing, neural networks, and entertainment computing. Ian Parberry is a pioneer of game programming education in academia, and has been teaching game programming classes at the University of North Texas since 1993. One of the primary features of these classes is the opportunity for students in the computer science program to undertake collaborative work with students in UNT's College of Visual Arts and Design. Ian Parberry directs the Laboratory for Recreational Computing (LARC) at UNT, a crucible in which the game industry professionals and professors of the future learn, develop, and conduct research in game programming.
