The purpose of the competition is to encourage professional and technical development among engineering students. The competition includes an oral presentation and a poster which details the work being considered in the competition. The work must first be submitted in the form of a paper abstract, which must be received by the competition\u2019s organization committee no later than October 20, 2016. Email abstracts to <a href=\"mailto:Jamila.Hunt@oncor.com\">Jamila.Hunt@oncor.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Student Poster Competition is open to IEEE Student Members who are either undergraduate or graduate students at the time of the competition. There will be separate competitions for undergraduate and graduate students. The participants may consist of a team of up to four members. Two members may present the poster at the competition and attend the convention free of charge. Remaining team members who wish to attend will need to pay the student fee for attendance ($25 per student).<\/p>\n<p>Engineering work presented must be relevant to field of Electrical and Computer Engineering and preferably pertain to a topic that is within one of the tracks of the MetroCon.<\/p>\n<h2>Competition Date and Times<\/h2>\n<p>October 26, 2016 from 8:30am \u2013 11:55am with oral presentations between 9:25am and 9:55am and during judging<\/p>\n<h2>Competition Deadlines<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>October 20, 2016 \u2013 Abstracts due<\/li>\n<li>October 22, 2016 \u2013 Registration due for attendance to the MetroCon (registration for 2 competing team members (and 1 faculty advisor if accompanying students) is free)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Competition Travel<\/h4>\n<p>Students traveling to Arlington, TX and needing to stay overnight Oct 25 to compete in the poster competition the next day may register at the conference event hotel, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sheratonarlingtonhotel.com\/\">Sheraton Arlington Hotel<\/a>, and request the IEEE reserved room block at the group discounted rate of $139 for a single or double, $149 for 3 to a room, or $159 for 4 students to a room. Room cut-off for registration is October 7, 2016, so reserve early.
