The purpose of the competition is to encourage<br>professional and technical development among engineering students. The competition includes<br>an oral presentation and a poster that details the work being considered in the competition. The<br>work must first be submitted as a 500-word or less paper abstract, which must be received by the<br>competition\u2019s organization committee no later than October 20, 2024. Submissions to the competition should be submitted through the Section website at: <a href=\"https:\/\/site.ieee.org\/fortworth\/metrocon-student-poster-competition-submission\/\">https:\/\/site.ieee.org\/fortworth\/metrocon-student-poster-competition-submission\/<\/a>  and please include the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Title<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Abstract<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Presenters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Up to two students with emails for complimentary registration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Faculty Advisor attending (Optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The Student Poster Competition is open to IEEE Student Members who are either<br>undergraduate or graduate students at the time of the competition. There will be separate<br>competitions for undergraduate and graduate students. The participants may consist of a team of<br>up to five members. Two members may present the poster at the competition and attend the<br>convention free of charge. The remaining team members who wish to attend the Student Paper<br>Competition will need to register for the conference as a student member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Engineering work presented must be relevant to the fields of Engineering represented by the IEEE and preferably pertain to a topic that is within one of the tracks of IEEE MetroCon 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p><strong>Student Status:<\/strong> The primary presenter must be a currently enrolled student. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Degree Level:<\/strong> Declare the highest degree obtained during the research project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Author Contributions:<\/strong> List all contributors to the project and specify their individual contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Advisor Identification:<\/strong> Clearly identify any advisors or mentors involved in the research. These requirements are essential for ensuring the integrity and transparency of student research presentations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Competition Date and Times<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>November 14, 2024, from approximately 8:30 am \u2013 12:00 pm, with oral presentations between<br>approximately 9:15 am and 10:30 am during the conference. Check the IEEE MetroCon 2024<br>Technical Program for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Competition Deadlines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><s>September 30, 2024<\/s> <strong>Extended to October 14, 2024<\/strong> \u2013 Three page paper for publication in proceedings on IEEE Xplore due (optional)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>October 20, 2024 \u2013 Registration due for attendance to Metrocon and 500 word abstract.  (registration for 2 competing team members and 1 faculty advisor if accompanying students is free) <a href=\"https:\/\/site.ieee.org\/fortworth\/metrocon-student-poster-competition-submission\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/site.ieee.org\/fortworth\/metrocon-student-poster-competition-submission\/\">submission site<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Proceedings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the participants of the student poster competition wish their work to be included in the proceedings of the meeting they should submit a three page paper (including figures). The proceedings will be published on IEEE Xplore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The paper should be set out using the IEEE template for US letter page size which can be found at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieee.org\/conferences\/publishing\/templates.html\">https:\/\/www.ieee.org\/conferences\/publishing\/templates.html<\/a>.
