IEEE EPICS
Abstract:
IEEE EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service) is a program that empowers university and pre-university students to use their technical skills to address real-world challenges in their local communities. It connects students with nonprofit organizations to design and implement engineering-based solutions — such as renewable energy systems, assistive technologies, and environmental monitoring tools — that have a lasting social impact.
The program emphasizes service learning, combining technical education with community engagement, teamwork, and professional skill development. It’s sponsored by the IEEE Foundation, and its projects often align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
