Speaker Bio:

The OSCAR Lab (Optimization, Signal Processing, Communications, AI, and Robotics) at the University of North Texas advances intelligent systems that are both efficient and ethically responsible. The lab’s research focuses on developing computationally lean machine learning models, trustworthy and explainable AI methods, and real-time perception technologies for edge applications in sensing, communications, and robotics.

With core strengths in signal processing, efficient AI/ML architectures, and computer vision, OSCAR Lab researches solutions that operate with minimal data, reduced power consumption, and strong performance guarantees—enabling use in resource-constrained and mission-critical environments. The team has created novel vision transformers, adaptive sensing systems, lightweight dehazing networks, and other techniques that bridge the gap between theoretical advances and deployable engineering.

OSCAR Lab’s work is guided by core values of efficiency, transparency, and societal responsibility, ultimately striving to make AI more accessible, reliable, and sustainable for real-world impact.
